An Employers Forum is made up of representatives from local companies, who work with the local community on a wide range of projects. An Employers Forum can be found in the following areas: Sharrow, Heeley & Norfolk Park; Owlerton, Southey Green and Hillsborough; Darnall, Tinsley & Handsworth; Firth Park & Brightside. Projects include attracting more local people into local jobs, using local jobs boards.

Sharrow Industries is the sole supplier of PVCu windows and kitchen furniture for the Decent Homes programme in Sheffield. Sharrow Industries provides a modern production environment, and employs a team of 39 people. More than half of the employees have disabilities or medical conditions ranging from auditory and visual impairment through to learning difficulties and epilepsy. Individual employee programmes of training, adaptation and support from organisations such as Work Step contribute to employee and business development on an ongoing basis.

The Starting Over programme helps former drug users move back into work. Voluntary Action Sheffield (VAS) is an independent voluntary organisation supporting the development of the voluntary and community sector (VCS) locally. VAS provides a wide range of support and services to groups, helping those that are starting up, as well as organisations that are already established. In addition to support for groups, some of VAS’ services are directed at individuals, particularly volunteers and people who use health & social care services in the city.
