About

submitted by WHIG Administrator last modified 2007-05-08 11:53

SOHAS has been providing a comprehensive range of services to support and empower people to manage their workplace health for 24 years. SOHAS is a charitable organisation, made up of a board of seven trustees, a manager and 24 staff.

Workplace health programme

The primary care referral service aims to reduce the impact of work-related ill health to individuals, employers and society. SOHAS methods, which have been adopted nationally, enable advisers to identify and respond to changing work-health needs. Advice, advocacy, and mediation are provided on prevention, rehabilitation, employment law and rights, and benefits.

Work Health Information Gateway (WHIG)

Funded by the Health Department Section 64, this website was launched in November 2004. The WHIG is a highly accessible and interactive national occupational health resource.

Health Information Project

A Section 64 grant enables several patient information leaflets to be produced and distributed.

Seminars and conferences

SOHAS organises seminars each year to disseminate information and raise awareness about occupational health.

Funding

Funding for SOHAS is provided by Sheffield PCTs, and the Department of Health S64.
