Raising awareness of, and identifying the best practice for Manual Handling and the use of equipment in Residential and Care Homes
Raising awareness of, and identifying the best practice for Moving & Handling and the use of equipment in Residential and Care Homes
Includes:
- Moving & Handling Training
- Lifting Aids Equipment
Introduction
Moving and handling injuries remain a major cause of sickness absence and job loss amongst staff in residential and domiciliary care and in nursing homes. Legal duties have changed during the last 10 years and guidance is constantly being revised. The health and safety authorities are beginning a joint programme to improve standards locally.
This event is a chance to hear about the latest guidance on good practice and to obtain training for staff from an expert NHS trainer. The programme aims to update managers and staff with health and safety responsibilities and to look at practical solutions to the problems.
SOHAS is an occupational health advice provider based in the NHS primary health care system. In addition to our work with patients, we run projects; most recently completing one of the government’s Workcare Job Retention Pilots to help employers retain staff and staff to return to work after periods of sickness absence.
