How to become a member of WHIG and the benefits of doing so.

WHIG is open to everyone to read, but if you want to make a contribution you will need to register with us. All you will need is a valid e-mail address, we will never ask for any other details and we will never reveal your e-mail to anyone else. The reason for having accounts is it allows us to minimise any abuse of the site, you can still contribute in an anonymous and confidential way, if you so wish.

Joining is as simple as following the join link near the top-right of the page. From there, you can fill in the registration form. If you would your full-name to be displayed on all your contributions to the site, you can enter it here or alternatively, if you would prefer to be patially anonymous then leave the full name field blank and simply pick a user name for youself.

As soon as you have registered you can log in and start using your account. You will notice that where the "log in" and "join" links used to be under the tabs, there are now several different things. Starting from the far right, it's all quite straight-forward:

  • log out: Follow this link to exit your account. This is important if the computer you are using is shared with other people as if you don't log out they may be able to gain access to your account.
  • undo: This will undo the last action you have made on the site. If you accidentally delete one of your resources, or save over something you wanted to keep then this will let you go back a step.
  • preferences: Here you can change your e-mail and password. Also, you can fill in a little profile of yourself to help other users contact you.
  • my folder and your username: Both of these links will take you to your own personal area of the site. You can look at the Making Content page to see what you can start to do here.
