Using Forums

submitted by Rowan Merewood last modified 2006-02-07 16:59

Interact with other members through the forums. You can ask questions, discuss ideas, or make some new contacts.

Click on the forums tab at the top of the page to access the forums. This will show you the different forums that are available in WHIG. In turn, clicking on any of these will show you the different conversations that have been going on in those topics.

If you would like to contribute to one of the discussions or start a new one, then you will need to be logged in. Once you're in, it's just a case of either clicking the "reply to this" button when you're looking at a thread, or "start a new conversation" when you're in one of the forums.

The important points to remember are:

  • Always be polite! It can be very easy to misunderstand what people are saying on-line. Sometimes the way messages are written can seem quite curt or rude, but it's probably not on purpose. If you do feel offended or hurt, then write your explanation, wait ten minutes, and then read it again before you decide to post it.
  • Have a search first. Often you will find that someone has already had the same issue as you - so there may be something in the forum or elsewehere on the site.
  • When you ask a question, try and provide all the information that people will need to answer it and include anything that you've tried already. This helps you get a helpful answer as quickly as possible.
