Launch of the new ASG Forum
launch of The Asbestos Victims Support Groups' Forum. Aimed at providing an opportunity for ASG's to speak with one voice on issues that affect asbestos victims.
For some time, asbestos victims’ support groups in the North of England have met informally to discuss issues of common concern, and to take collective action to further the interests of asbestos victims. We believe that by acting collectively we can represent asbestos victims more effectively. It is for this reason that we have now formally set up the Asbestos Victims Support Groups’ Forum (England).
The purpose of the Forum is to provide an opportunity for asbestos victims support groups to speak with one voice on issues that affect asbestos victims. Our objectives are: to discuss issues which are of concern of all asbestos victims support groups; to agree a common position on such issues; and to agree collective action, where necessary.
The Forum is open to all asbestos victims’ support groups in England who agree to abide by the Forum’s constitution and Principles. The Principles set out the minimum standards we expect independent, not-for-profit asbestos victims support groups to meet. The constitution provides a simple, yet workable framework within which asbestos victims support groups can discuss issues of mutual concern.
If you would like more information about the Forum please contact Tony Whitston (Chair) 0161 953 4037, Paula Walker (Secretary) 0114 2823 212 or any member of the Forum.
