This is one of a series of leaflets on choosing RPE (face masks, powered hoods, etc) for use with dust, gases and fumes at work. They form part of the COSHH Essentials package. Quite technical in one sense - the outline the kind of equiment you need rather than showing you what they mean. The Assigned Protection Factor (40 in this case) is hard to work out in many situations. Look for other leaflets in this series for different levels of protection.
